Themed Party Ideas for Adults

You may think that themed parties are something just for the kids, but actually many adults host successful and memorable themed parties themselves. There may be a range of reasons why you’re throwing a party, it might be your birthday, either a big birthday or just an ordinary one, it might be an anniversary, it might be a farewell party or it could be an engagement or new baby party.

Whatever excuse you have, throwing the party can be very fulfilling and extremely fun.
Depending on the occasion for which you’re throwing the party, coming up with an idea can be a challenge. This is because there are so many ideas that you can choose from!

If you are going down the fancy dress route, many people would like some time to prepare their outfits, and so you should tell them that they are expected to dress up in the invitation that you send out, many weeks before the party is thrown. This gives people plenty of time to prepare themselves properly.

A popular idea at the moment is to throw a “letter” party. You take the first letter from your first name and ask people to come dressed in anything beginning with this letter. For example, if your first name begins with a G, then you may expect people to turn up as gladiators, Greeks, gorgeous models, and so on.

Another popular idea is to ask people to dress up as a famous celebrity. You might choose a Hollywood style party, which may prompt people to dress in a very sophisticated and glamorous way. You could ask people to show up as their favourite movie stars, such as Leonardo di Caprio, Angelina Jolie or even stars from the music scene, such as Madonna.

If you’re looking to do something a bit different, you may want to choose a theme to suit the activity that you are planning to throw for your party. For example, if you are all going to a football game then you might want to have a football inspired party beforehand. On the other hand, if you are all going go-karting, then you might want people to look ridiculous as they are racing round the track and could ask people to dress in mismatch clothing and unstyled items! The “bad taste party” is becoming a popular idea as of late, and you could extend this theme not just for the fancy dress but also through the decorations and even the cake.

Whatever party you choose, try to be original and you’ll find that many people will make your party the talk of the town! Remember to budget accordingly, and start planning well in advance so that you can make the party something to remember.
